Meet A Few of Our Great Clarinet Teachers
Katie Brown is a professional freelance musician with over 15 years teaching experience in NC, SC, and GA. Ms. Brown is currently pursuing a DMA (Doctor of Music Arts) in clarinet performance at the University of South Carolina here she taught aspiring music educators as a graduate teaching assistant for the USC School of Music. Katie holds a Master of Music from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Music from East Carolina University. Ms. Brown enjoys teaching beginner piano lessons to children and adults, as well as clarinet lessons to students at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Michael Lazenby is a pianist and organist based in the Charlotte, NC area. A native of Charlotte, Michael has performed throughout the United States and around the world. Recently, he has performed in the St. Anthony Festa Italiana, Tosco Music Parties, and the UUCC Chamber Music Series in Charlotte, the Charlotte Seen Ball, various performances in Las Vegas, and at the Tibor Varga Festival in Switzerland. Michael is a graduate of the UNC School of the Arts where he majored in piano under the tutelage of legendary pedagogue Clifton Matthews. Michael has dedicated his career to his love of music education, both through teaching and informative performances. Michael has a strong conviction to teach an appreciation of the arts to future generations. His teaching style is customized to fit each of his students' needs and goals. He utilizes a variety of methods and believes that anyone can be taught to enjoy an instrument with the proper motivation. When he is not teaching or performing, Michael enjoys time with his 8 year old daughter, 2 year old son, and wife Mandy.
